ABOUT SUNFLOWER PICTURES

Sunflower Pictures is a Canadian independent production company that was formed specifically to bring "Face the Sun" to production. However, such has been the response to the script from seasoned industry professionals, that additional projects are already set for development once we bring "Face the Sun" to the big screen.

The Producers

MIKE MOROZ brings to the project perhaps that most important of the ingredients needed to make any movie happen... Passion. "Face the Sun" has great personal significance for him, and it shows in every scene of his brilliant script, which has drawn glowing accolades from even the most jaded industry professional.

Although this is his first time in the Executive Producer's chair, he has a wealth of experience in the film-making process, in diplomacy and in working with creative people. He teaches acting and film-making at Cowichan Secondary School on Vancouver Island, and is also a founding member of The Independent Filmmakers Alliance of Canada.

Mike was Associate Producer for "Sleepover Nightmare", a Canadian independent feature film, as well as all thirteen episodes of "Keyeye - The Series", a childrens' personal safety series made locally for television, and for the follow-up feature film "Keyeye - the Movie". He was the screenwriter for, “House for Sale.” All three projects were for Hands Off Productions.

Most recently, Mike Produced/Directed the Sunflower Pictures two part documentary called, "Somebody's Children" that looks at the hard lives of the homeless and the addicted in Vancouver's notorius Hastings and Main district.

TERRY MARSHALL was, for several years, a Vancouver Talent Agent and was a founder member of VATA, the Vancouver Association of Talent Agents. Subsequently, a spell with the Drama Department at CBC Vancouver led to his being appointed Project Manager for their ground-breaking prime-time series "pilot 1".

From 1994 to 1997, he was co-producer, sometime editor, and on air host of a monthly one-hour, prime-time television magazine for Cable 4 TV. Over that period, the show went from a small local audience to being seen across the entire Province, becoming the template for Channel 4's own "Plugged In", to which he became a regular contributor. He also hosted a monthly, live, phone-in show on local politics for Channel 4.

It was while working as Script Supervisor on "Sleepover Nightmare", shot on Vancouver Island, that Terry met Mike and since then, he has made regular visits to provide workshops for Mike's film-making students and for the annual B.C. Student Film Festival. Following "Sleepover Nightmare", Terry worked with well-known Producer/Director, Andrew Van Slee, to create and set up the Independent Filmmakers Alliance of Canada, an organisation that offers support and educational opportunities to Canadian filmmakers across the country.

Most recently, Terry is the screenplay writer for "Seeking Fear", winner of the Grand Jury Prize for best feature film at the 2005 New York Independent Film & Television Festival, for which project he also did the casting. He continues to read scripts for the IFA's screenplay competitions and provide coverage for the writers.
